The United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois has five United States District Judges and three United States Magistrate Judges presiding. The Honorable Nancy J. Rosenstengel presides as chief judge.
The Standards for Professional Conduct Within the Seventh Federal Judicial Circuit are published in the Practitioner’s Handbook, by the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
Prior to appearing before the Court, all parties should become familiar with the individual practices of the judge who has been assigned to their case.
Submitting a Proposed Document
SDIL-LR 15.1 states, “[a]ny document that requires leave of Court for filing must be filed on the docket as an exhibit to the motion requesting leave.” The Court may further request that any such document be submitted via email. Such documents or any communications that the Court directs to be emailed, including proposed orders, shall be e-mailed to the assigned judge at the addresses provided below. The subject line of the e-mail must include the case number and any corresponding document number (if applicable). The email should be served on all parties.
