Electronic Case Filing

The Southern District of Illinois has implemented the Case Management/Electronic Case Filing (CM/ECF) system and publishes Electronic Case Filing Rules to assist attorneys practicing in the Southern District. Administrative Order #312 adopts revisions to the electronic filing rules.

Attorneys must register with PACER in advance to obtain a user id and password, which serve as the attorney's signature when filing documents electronically.

For assistance with using the Electronic Case Filing system, email questions to or contact the ECF help desk at (866) 867-3169 (East St. Louis) or (866) 222-2104 (Benton). Clerk's office personnel are available from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, except holidays.

NOTICE: Attorneys must open civil cases online via the Case Management Electronic Case Filing (CM/ECF) System.
